One educator. One cosmetologist. One shared mission.

Facing Forward was born from the belief that healing begins with human connection. While our careers took different paths, we shared the same purpose: empowering others, building stronger communities, and creating opportunities for hope.

Erika Lucero

Licensed Cosmetologist • Advocate • Co-Founder

For more than 20 years, Erika Lucero has built her career on the belief that behind every salon chair is far more than hair care—it's trust, connection, and conversation. Certified in both the Shear Haven and Cut It Out domestic violence awareness programs, she is passionate about helping salons become places where clients feel seen, heard, and supported.

Through Facing Forward, Erika equips beauty professionals with the knowledge and confidence to recognize signs of domestic violence, respond with compassion, and help connect survivors with the resources they need.

Meryl Ironson

Educator • Advocate • Co-Founder

For more than two decades, Meryl Ironson has worked as an educator and advocate, building community partnerships and developing programs that promote empathy, inclusion, and social justice. She believes education has the power to strengthen communities and inspire meaningful change.

Through Facing Forward, Meryl brings that passion to the beauty industry, helping equip salon professionals with the knowledge and confidence to recognize signs of domestic violence, respond with compassion, and support survivors on their path forward.
